BTCCSquare news:

Alphabet Inc. is acquiring energy infrastructure provider Intersect for $4.75 billion, a strategic MOVE to secure power capacity for its growing fleet of AI data centers. The deal underscores Big Tech's escalating energy demands as generative AI workloads strain global electricity grids.

CEO Sundar Pichai framed the acquisition as critical infrastructure for AI dominance: 'This builds capacity while maintaining affordability for grid customers.' The transaction follows Google's earlier stake in Intersect through a funding round.

The energy play mirrors hyperscalers' scramble to lock in power supplies. Microsoft recently signed a nuclear-powered AI deal, while Amazon committed to renewable energy projects. Data centers now consume an estimated 1-2% of global electricity—a figure projected to triple by 2030 due to AI.
